Fremont, Nebraska Ward and Winter Quarters Temple & Visitors Center

On Sunday, June 24, we attended the Fremont, Nebraska ward with the Chappell family. As we were walking in the door, we started talking with one of the elders. He is from Bountiful! Although we did not know him before now, he knows many of the young men (and current missionaries) that we know. It was fun talking with him!

In our home ward, Ryan is one of two deacons. In the Fremont ward, Ryan was the only deacon! He helped pass the sacrament, in their chapel which was about 1/4 the size of ours. It was a great experience for him!

After church, the Chappell kids enjoyed playing on the iPad with Ryan.

Later that afternoon, Ethan and Sean (9 and turning 8) were our tour guides at the Winter Quarters Temple and Visitors Center.

Fist we walked around the temple…

As we went to the Visitors Center, several missionaries asked us if we wanted them to give us the tour. But Ethan & Sean had been there enough that they did a great job telling us about all of the exhibits.

It was really cool to be at the Winter Quarters Visitors Center just a few days after we were at This is the Place State Park. We watched a multimedia presentation that tracked the journey of the early members of the church, and then learned even more about the journey.

There was a traveling art exhibit in the basement of the Visitors Center. Our favorite picture was one of the Stripling Warriors that we had never seen before.

We had a great time, and were happy that Ethan and Sean could go with us!

We also checked off the first “Omaha Push Pin” on our list!
