The 5th grade classes at Ryan’s school have been learning patriotic songs and songs of the branches of the military all year. On Monday, May 23, they presented it for parents, grandparents, and friends. They did such a great job! Ryan warned me to bring Kleenex, as they would be singing tear-jerkers like “Proud to be an American” and “American Tears.” The most touching thing was that during both of those songs, they had a slide show with images of 9/11, wars, and veterans. He was right, I cried.
Ryan was the person who began the program with a welcome, and then leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and The Star Spangled Banner. He did a great job!
On Thursday, May 26, the 5th graders went on a field trip to the veterans’ hospital/care center and presented the program there. After their program, they read with the veterans and talked with them about their experiences. He said it was a great experience.
