Taste of the Town & Summerfest

There are so many summer traditions in Bountiful that we love. Two of them coincide with each other ~ Taste of the Town and Summerfest. Taste of the Town was Wednesday evening, August 3. Several different restaurants from the Bountiful area set up booths and had menu items to sample fairly inexpensively. We have learned to go right at the beginning to avoid lines, for the most part. We always make a beeline to the Mandarin first. This year we had lettuce wraps and crème brulee. We had a variety of other things, all of which were very yummy!

The evening of Taste of the Town, there is also a street dance featuring the dancers visiting from other countries. However, we were not able to stay for that this year due to Ryan’s scout meeting.

Summerfest always runs the Thursday through Saturday the same week as Taste of the Town. We often go a couple of days. But, due to other things on the calendar this year, we went Thursday, August 4. The weather was great (not always the case at the beginning of August), and there weren’t as many people as we have often encountered on Friday and Saturday in the past.

We ate dinner there (we chose the Hawaiian plate special this year) and watched the Opening Ceremony and various country dances. We always buy some type of art at Summerfest, and have it signed by the artist. This year’s “artist in residence” was a man from Japan. His daughter was helping him with his booth, and she served as his interpreter. We had him write Ryan’s name in Japanese on the piece we purchased.

We chatted with the mayor, as well as other friends. It was a fun evening, as always.
