Swim Team Shake-Up

Continuing with Ryan’s emotional past few days, his swim coach has decided to leave his position as the head coach of the team. The kids on the team are devastated, but we understand. He recently completed his master’s degree in special education and will be moving to a position in that field. We will really miss Coach Dale!

On August 1, the aquatics director at the recreation center had a meeting for the parent board of the swim team. He was great to explain what they are doing to look for a new head coach, and he was patient in taking all of our recommendations and suggestions.

Ryan also found out that one of the assistant aquatics directors, the one he has worked with closely in the junior lifeguard position (Justin), is leaving to be the director of another recreation center. In a few short days, Ryan has dealt with some grown-up concerns. Ryan is like me – we get attached to people very quickly, so changes in life circumstances tend to be emotional for us as we lose friends. Thank goodness for Facebook!
